We were privileged to attend the Harvest Festival in Ciemlice, Tychy, on September 4, 2022.
The celebrations started with the church liturgy at the local Nativity of St.John the Baptist Cathedral. The church interior was adorned with a special wheat oar crown and the cross that were attached to the ceiling beams.
We came in time and attended the Holy Mass for farmers’ labor in the church of Nativity of St. John the Baptist in Cielmice.

Attending the Harvest Festival, Tychy
The church dean expressed his thanks to the farmers and to God for all the lavish fruits of the farmers’ labor that we enjoy. The Holy Mass was followed by a procession to the village restaurant at 2 Unity Street, where there was a festival tent in the courtyard. As we were leaving the church, local ladies treated everyone to a piece of apple cake and a piece of poppy seed cake.
We took part in the Harvest Festival Procession and attended the meeting held in the courtyard of the village restaurant.

The representatives of the city authorities greeted the farmers and the village residents, as well as guests, presented their gifts to merited village residents, and held the traditional Sharing of Bread Ceremony. The village bread tasted very nice, and we did not mind taking a couple of pieces. After the ceremony, the guests, who had a special invitation, were invited for lunch into the restaurant, and we went around the village admiring its festival décor, farms and old buildings.
