Following the Calendar of Events

If you happen to be in Siedlce in September, please follow the events on the city website beforehand, and then, if you have some spare time, you can attend and enjoy several great festivals and events:

• The Days of Siedlce on the second weekend
• the Street Theatre Festival called Under the Sky;
• the National Reading;
• the Organ Siedlce Festival;
• the Agricultural Exhibition;
• the Honey Festival.

Days of Siedlce are on the second weekend of September. This closing musical event of this festival took place at 6 p.m. on the Green Areas in the Polish Foresters' Square. Siedlce Days is not only a city celebration, but also a time for residents to have fun and gather around the best music: from rock energy, through fresh alternative sounds, to timeless hits performed by a legend of the Polish scene.

In 2025, there was a huge concert of popular rock stars: Upstream & Michał Jelonek, Zalia and Krzysztof Cugowski with the Team of Champions.
The first band to perform on the stage was Upstream and Michał Jelonek. It was an energetic combination of Upstream's rock expression and the virtuosity of Michał Jelonek, one of Poland's most recognizable rock violinists. This concert is full of passion, power, and extraordinary sounds. The band was formed in Siedlce in 2006. Over the years, they have played dozens of rock concerts, participated in numerous festivals, and won audience acclaim.

The second artist to appear on the was Zalia – one of the most exciting young vocalists on the Polish scene. During her short but intense career, she performed at Poland's most important music festivals (Open'er, Orange Warsaw Festival, and Męskie Granie). In 2023, she received a Fryderyk Award nomination for "Phonographic Debut of the Year." She was also one of the faces promoting the Letnie Dźwiękenia concert series and a participant in the special project "Indian Summer."

The finale featured the undisputed star of the Polish music scene – Krzysztof Cugowski with the Zespół Mistrzów (Band of Champions). Krzysztof Cugowski is an outstanding Polish rock musician and co-founder of the band Budka Suflera. Since 2017, he has been performing with the Zespół Mistrzów (Band of Champions), which consists of Jacek Królik, Cezary Konrad, Robert Kubiszyn, and Tomasz Kałwak.

The kids were invited to the entertainment zone, where they found an inflatable playground, face painting, giant soap bubbles, and many other attractions.

We could not fail to attend the 18th Street Theatre Festival called Under the Sky. It was in Sikorski Square on the second Friday and Saturday of September: on September 12 (Friday), at 8 p.m., in Gen. Sikorski Square - Kiliński Street we attended a performance by the Theatre of Shadow Evolution. The performance was called "Fin Amor". "Fin Amor" is a costume play that tells the story of love between Him and Her – unspecified characters living in the Middle Ages, hailing from the upper classes. We have Her – a lady – and Him – a knight who must follow a specific path to earn the affection of his chosen one. The play depicts the development of love from the male perspective. We follow the characters' story from an irrational, initial impulse through the difficult journey of living up to the chivalric code, battling temptations, and finally, a culmination of hardships and sacrifices.

The play, however, is not about presenting a pretty love story, but rather drawing the audience's attention to its universality and timelessness. The creators concluded that the model of courtly love, established in the 12th century, not only perpetuated the Romantic era but has survived to this day, becoming a defining characteristic of love within European culture. By telling us the story of a pair of lovers, the creators of the performance told us a story about love in general, beyond the boundaries of time. Thus, the final scene of the play thus has a symbolic meaning, for although epochs pass, and the dust of history covers everything, love remains…

A performance by the Voilà Theatre (Lviv, Ukraine) called Circus Colors, Siedlce

On September 13 (Saturday), at 4 p.m., Gen. Sikorski Square - Kiliński Street: there was a performance by the Lviv Voilà Theatre called "Circus Colors". The performance, produced as part of the Polish-Ukrainian cultural project "Enjoy Street Theatre," features actors from the Lviv Vuala Theater alongside artists from the Kyiv Highlights Theater. The production was inspired by a desire to showcase the interplay between theater and circus: the script incorporates elements of a new circus using dance, music, pantomime, and even athletic performances. The Lviv artists create an atmosphere of theatrical fiesta and encourage participation in the fun. Comedy scenes, circus tricks, acrobatics, artistic gymnastics, and stilt dancing allow for humorous interaction with the audience and complement the spectacle of the performance.

The National Reading could be seen and heard on the second Thursday of September, 9.30 a.m. at the Garden Pavilion in the Aleksandria City Park. It was the next edition of the nationwide "National Reading," which took place in the picturesque setting of Aleksandria City Park. This year, there were the works of Jan Kochanowski - one of the most outstanding poets of the Polish Renaissance - songs, songs, and phrases. The audience heard a selection of his songs, laments, and epigrams, interpreted by invited guests. The reading will be attended by members of the Siedlce Literary Group "Spotted Glass," representatives of the city authorities, as well as students and teachers from the 4th General Secondary School, Secondary School Complex Nos. 3, 4, and 5, Primary School Nos. 1 and 2, the "Mansarda" Senior Club, the Regional Museum, and the Siedlce Housing Cooperative.
Rafał Cieszyński was the special guest of the event. He is renowned actor, who presented a professional interpretation of Jan Kochanowski's works. After the artistic portion, he net with the audience for a panel discussion, during which they discussed literature, the role of words in the contemporary world, and the acting's methods of working with text.

We enjoyed our visit to the 31st International Days with Agricultural Advisory alongside with the 19th Regional Exhibition of Livestock under the slogan "Agriculture as a guarantor of food" on September 13 and 14.

This agricultural exhibition became traditional and takes place on the second weekend of September at the premises of the Siedlce City Development Agency at 6 Jan Paul II Street, next to the City Stadium.

We liked the quatation on one of the kiosks,
"Bóg stworzył ludzi takich samych, ale tylko najlepsi stali się pszczelarzami" -
God created people the same, but only the best ones became beekeepers.

It was fun to attend the traditional Honey Festival, which took place in the Green Areas in Wiszniewski Street – near the site of the former amphitheater.

The program included:

• 8.45 a.m. : A mass for beekeepers at the Holy Spirit Church at 37 Brest Street.
• 8.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m: Fair and presentation of apiaries, beekeeping equipment, and folk crafts.

Beekeepers from Siedlce, Węgrow, Olszanka and Wierzbna were among the participants of the fair.

• 11.00 a.m.: Official opening of the fair.
• 10.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.: Performances by artistic groups, catering.

There were several performances:

• 12.00 — 2.00 p.m.

Local vocalists also took floor on the stage:

• 2.00 — 2.30 p.m.: the SINGERS Song Studio;
• 2.30 p.m. - 3.30 p.m.: "Goliczanki" and "Strzałki" bands from the Siedlce Commune;
• 3.30 — 4.30 p.m.: the FEVER Vocal Studio.

We found out a lot about the beehives and the bees from trhe story of the MC of the festival. According to her, the bees are known to see in multiple colors, but there's one point. They can't distinguish red. To them, a red flower looks more like a dark, contrasting object.

There's a strict division of labor in the hive. Young bees are responsible for feeding the larvae. The older ones build the combs, and the most experienced and oldest, trusted ones, become the sphincters and fly out in big numbers around the hive.

Speaking of pollen, we have to realize it's the main source of the protein for bees. It feeds the larvae and keeps the entire colony strong. The queen is fed with it throughout her life, which allows her to develop differently than regular worker bees. In winter, bees don't hibernate, as I mentioned, but they do create a winter problem and warm each other, consuming honey reserves in the process. A single bee colony can produce from 10 to 40 km per year, and this amount depends on the colony's strength and the availability of honey.

Bees play a crucial role in the ecosystem. In addition to crops, they also pollinate wild species that maintain the balance of nature. Bees are incredibly important. These small creatures impact our entire lives and the functioning of our beautiful nature.

In addition, we found some interesting and useful information about different kinds of honey and their benefitial effect on human body:

• Acacia honey:

digestive, kidney, and urinary tract disorders; colds.

• Linden honey:

upper and lower respiratory tract; heart and circulatory system, nervous system, stress.

• Dandelion honey:

rheumatic diseases, inflammation of the liver and gallbladder, anemia.

• Honeydew nectar:

states of physical and mental exhaustion, heart and circulatory system, digestive disorders.

• Rapeseed honey:

liver and bile ducts, heart and coronary vessels, inflammation of the respiratory tract.

• Honeydew honey from deciduous trees:

kidneys and urinary tract, liver and bile ducts, digestive tract, intestines.

• Multifloral honey:

allergic respiratory conditions; physical and mental exhaustion; heart and blood vessels.

We attended the recital of Agnieszka Tarnawska at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary in Bishop Świrski Street. Agnieszka Tarnawska is a graduate of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. She also completed her Master of Music studies in Lübeck and then completed solo studies at the Konzertexamen in Hamburg.
She had won numerous organ competitions, among them: the 4th Feliks Nowowiejski International Organ Competition in Poznań; the 18th L. Janáček International Organ Competition in Brno; the 8th International Organ Competition in Korschenbroich; the first prize at the 15th César Franck International Organ Competition in Haarlem.
In 2023, her debut album was released, featuring works by C. Franck, recorded on the historical organ of A. Cavaillé-Colla in Lyon. She holds a doctorate in musical arts and is a lecturer at the Academy of Music in Poznań. She played several wonderful pieces at the recital:
